Even straight out of the box, the sound is so familiar--it's pure Caldera… (snip)

A harbinger of good things to come: that familiar Caldera sound is just about the best planar sound I've heard in all my time in this hobby.

It’s not surprising after the wonderful open-to-closed-back carryover Zach and team has from Atrium to Atrium Closed, but it’s magical nonetheless!

I've never had the pleasure of hearing one of his amps, but I bet it would rock this headphone.

My only regret with The Apache purchase is that’s ALSO such a good preamp that it’s spoiled me for other (less expensive) preamps in my two-channel setup.

Eventually I’ll either have to splurge and get another really good preamp that meets my connection needs (balanced in/out, simultaneous SE output for my sub) or buy another excellent SS headamp with dual-mono output (due to cables I own).

With the Caldera Closed on the horizon and a new hi-fi/head-fi cabinet as a likely summer purchase, I’ll have to wait a bit.

They are demo units and no financial matters are used in either direction. If someone wants to keep them they can buy the set after the demo or send it back.

Sounds like the perfect opportunity for you to go to High End Munich and make some impressions of your own! Or we have a ton of EU dealers who will have sets where you can hear them. If you've heard Caldera Open - you kind of have some idea what a closed version might sound like though...ish!

Were sending Caldera Closed Protein (Same as Bokeh Protein) as the secondary pads, and they will come with Caldera Closed Hybrid Pads.
