Some pretty good choices so far. I actually keep a list down to about number 50, so this was easy for me:

Queen, A Night at the Opera
Genesis, Foxtrot
Metallica, And Justice for All
Roy Harper, Stormkok (respellt to avoid the officious auto-censor!)
Tori Amos, Boys for Pele
Kate Bush, The Dreaming
The Who, Quadrophenia
Joni Mitchell, Blue
The Boomtown Rats, Tonic for the Troops
Peter Gabriel, Peter Gabriel 4

The only one I had to exclude was Never For Ever by Kate Bush, which is my official number 10. As for OK Computer by Radiohead, possibly the most mentioned album on the thread so far, it's my number 15 and rises slightly every year: because new albums have to compete with things I was listening to almost thirty years ago, albums only rise at a truly glacial rate!

Nice. Both became personal favorites of mine over time, but didn't seem nearly that special when I first heard them. Just made a thread about that BSS recently, but like most of my threads, it came and went without much notice

Usually stays in the player for a few spins ... sometimes a few days. The new Blonde Redhead (or Blonde Radiohead as many are calling them now) doesn't seem nearly as substantial as Melody, but still pretty fun stuff.

Ya, I love both bands right now. The self titled BSS is very good as well, but I like you forgot it in people better.
It was the same with me though...pretty much all the cds i listed above look me a few listens to really start enjoying, especially wolf parade

Off the top of my head and subject to change:

Dire Straits Making Movies
Fleetwood Mac Rumours
Nine Inch Nails The Downward Spiral
Beck Sea Change
Black Sabbath Paranoid
Eric Clapton Unplugged
Autechre Incunabula
Meshuggah Destroy Erase Improve (a new one for me, but on here nonetheless)
Frank Zappa Hot Rats
Michael Hedges Beyond Boundaries

I should note that Headfi played a significant role in this list, as I developed an appreciation for well recorded & sounding music. That probably played a role in my Beck and Eric Clapton decisions.
