Went on a spree the other day:

Mystery Jets - Twenty One
It's getting better and better with repeated listens. A lot of 80's influences in the middle of the album (which is a god thing when used to this effect). Favourites being the opener and also the single "Young Love" so far. Highly recommended!

Guillemots - Red
Hmm, not sure anymore on this. I loved it at first but there are a couple of tracks that are starting to look like skippers.

Muse - Showbiz
Since I've heard it before I don't tend to pay much attention but will have to give it a proper listen soon. It's Muse. That is all.

30 Seconds To Mars
I love the first track but it seems to descend into the usual mainstream sound rather quickly. I need to give it a proper chance, like Showbiz. I've had them playing in the background so I haven't paid enough attention yet.

All just arrived today although they were ordered at seperate times:

* Hagood Hardy - Alone - I first heard this years ago on cassette and I still love it. It may not be mastered to audiophile standards, but this is an artist playing his works on his instrument. It is exceptionally rare to find such emotion poured into songs. Got it used off Amazon for a steal.
* Mahler - Symphony No. 5 (Bernstein/Vienna) - Others may have their favorites, but this one's the standard for a reason IMO. Bernstein knows his Mahler.
* Beach Boys - Pet Sounds - One of the best albums of all time. If you don't know it already, where have you been for the last 40 years?
* Chicago / The Blues / Today! - An essential blues recording. Really captures the spirit of the Chicago music scene.

Also, my dad gave me his old box of 45s, which has some real gems, but too much to list here.
