If you had the opportunity to swap an SR225 for an SR325i...even exchange, no money...would you do it? I have such an opportunity and while the choice seems obvious, I've read that the SR325i is "better" than the SR225, but the highs are somewhat harsh. I love my SR225, but wonder if I would love the SR325i even more!

Decisions, Decisions...opinions please!

Thanks!

One of the first things to do is "weigh" the options.

Seriously...about 100gm worth of weight! Some folks have a problem with the extra mass, some don't.

I don't....usually.

From a standpoint of materials and workmanship it's a remarkably simple question, the housings and the headband is well worth it, but the sound is something you can't answer till you're heard them.....Who knows!

i love my SR225, which i just got. I finally found out that im a grado guy after all. I just listen to my rock or jazz anymore without a grado.

I havent heard the 325i, but i almost got them over my 225. I do hear the weight of them is something to deal with.

PS- if you decide not to trade, ill do it =)

YES! the 325i is seriously underrated on the forum and is a very good upgrade... i actually like it better than the RS-1 (as of now). if it depended on SQ only, i'd go as far as swapping the HF-1 for the 325i.

I have to agree with this although I love my HF-1 and would never part with it the 325i sounds cleaner and more refined and I don't find the added weight an issue.

I would do it. If you don't like the 325i's, I have little doubt you can sell them for AT LEAST enough to rebuy some 225's or do a trade for some with someone else willing to take the plunge on them.

. I did get to listen to the 325i and they are definitely better than the 225. But, now I wonder if the MS2i sounds better than the 325i. I'm going to get one or the other (now that I've tasted the forbidden fruit)...just don't know which.

Looks like I'll be selling my 225s soon...

Sorry to hear your deal fell through.

I sold my 325i because it was a bit heavy. I purchased an SR225 later and enjoyed it so much I sold it and bought an RS-1, which is far and away better then the SR225. In fact, it became my main listening can, the first Grado to fill that position (sorry Team Senn. But I still have love for the HD6xx.

).

I'm too far removed from the last time I heard the 325i, but I remember it being a touch bright, but not too bad.
