I think I'm siding more towards this then. I had a really good musical anime piece by Tainaka Sachi. Hearing it with ESW9 but at 192kbps didn't quite have the same feel as when I heard the same song some time ago while watching the anime.

I don't know how some are able to listen to a good song marred by harsh sibilance, bloated and muddy bass with excessive clipping and distortion.  No song is good enough for me to tolerate that sort of poor quality whether it be the source or the phone.  That would just drive me insane.
