Would MMX 300 be an upgrade over Audio-Technica A900X in my situation or is it worse than what i already have ?

Hello everyone.

I'm currently using A-T A900X with a zalman microphone. I am happy with my A900X but i am not happy with the quality of my microphone and i don't find it comfortable so i am planning to get a new headset.

I checked beyerdynamic's website and it has a ''New'' tag for MMX 300. Did they release a new version that is close to quality of T90-T70 ? As far as i know MMX 300 was released  5-6 years ago so can someone give information about that please ? Why does it say NEW on their website ?

Also i would love to get some headset / headphone + mic suggestion.

Thank you for reading.

The Beyer MMX300 is the Beyerdynamic DT770 32-ohm headphones, with an integrated mic
I know zero about this new version.
Have you tried getting the Hifiman Velour ear pads? for the A900X.

Ear pads are fine actually, it is just design of the A900X that i find uncomfortable. Also i miss having a good microphone...

What would be your suggestion here since you used beyer dt 770 and a900x :)

At first I thought they upgraded it with the t70 drivers  (Beyer's upgrade for the 770 , not really in terms of sound) but the price doesn't justify that , the original MMX was silver , have never seen a black though
Interesting to see the "NEW" tag on the site

PurpleAngel since you used both of them (Dt 770 and a900x) i'll repeat my question if you dont mind.

Which one would be the best if we compare beyer dt 770 and a900x.

I prefer the A900X over the DT770s.
But I will say the DT770 work better with a receiver's headphone output, then the A900X.
(because of the receiver headphone jack's high output impedance).

I don't have a receiver but would DT770 be better than A900x if we use a good amp with Creative ZX Soundcard ? Even ZX-R if it would make a difference :)

I think the SB-ZxR is a little overkill, as you can get the SB-Z for $70 and it leaves a lot more of your budget for headphones.
There are some used DT770s Pro 250-Ohm for sale on eBay.
So you could use the mic that comes with the SB-Z or buy any add-on mic you like.

Since you said that MMX 300 is DT770 with a microphone, wouldn't it be better to buy that instead of buying a mic and DT770 separately. (I really can't find a good microphone here and i hate having extra cables all around the place :s)

There are 2 versions of mmx 300; one is 32 ohm and the other one is 600 ohm. I guess buying 600 ohm mmx 300 would give me better sound quality, right ?

So if i buy 600 ohm Mmx 300 would i need an amp + SB-Z or just SB-ZxR would be enough to use it ?

Thank you for answering all my questions :))

From my understanding the MMX300 costs way more then the DT770s and all your getting with the MMX300 is the integrated mic.
The MMX300 600-Ohm version should be the best sounding of the MMX 300s
I'm fairly sure the ZxR can drive 600-Ohm headphones, the ZxR using the same TI 6120A2 headphone amplifier chip as my STX sound card and it can drive 600-Ohm headphones.

Well, honestly, If you have an ATh a900x
why don't you get: http://www.modmic.com/ instead of ur zalman

And if you find your Ath a900x not comfy, you can change the pads ?

Earpads are fine actually i just dont find a900x comfortable because of its headband design. It is not tight enough for me.

I checked modmic aswell but their latest version is not available yet. Are there any other good alternatives ?

You are right and each time you remind me that i feel like it is a huge waste pfff i don't know what to do :) I'd really love to spend that money on a better headphones and get an add-on microphone but i can't find a good one, thats why i wanted to buy mmx 300.
