Hi all,

my desktop setup at home is Topping E30 → Topping A50s → Balanced Cable → Aeon RT.

I sometimes listen to my music fairly loud and don't like it when I have to crank an amp all the way up to get to the volume I want.

Question is whether anybody has the Aeon and can tell me whether the hip-dac is strong enough to power them balanced or do I have to risk my marriage and get a micro iDSD (second hand Black Label or Signature)?

I don't have a Hip DAC but I pair my Aeon RTs with an Xduoo XP-2 Pro and it drives them well. It puts out 300 mW (@32 ohms), so I would guess the Hip DAC with 400 mW would do fine

hip-dac would be fine with these cans, this pairing would produce nearly 130dB of SPL, so far more than needed.

Ok, just received the hip-dac...

@iFi audio Jesus guys, what a nice little device! I just listened to it for about 30 minutes and I'm completely convinced. You basically just made my Topping Desktop devices obsolete.

Also, if you ever feel like achieving similar sound quality for desktop, ZEN DAC is essentially hip-dac for desktop, and ZEN CAN would push this DAC even further.
