I'm in the early stages of building a STEPS and M3 in separate enclosures (STEPS parts are ordered). The STEPS output will be via a 2.5mm jack and will be connected to the M3 (and also to my LaRocco PPA) via an 18 AWG patch cord with 2.5mm plugs on each end.

I'm looking for internal wire size/type recommendations for the following four categories:

1. AC from IEC Panel connector (w/integrated switch) to STEPS circuit board.
2. DC power from STEPS to 2.5mm panel jack and from M3's 2.5mm panel jack to M3 board.
3. Signal Wires: from RCA input to M3 board as well as for volume and bass control pots.
4. Headphone Output from M3 to 1/4 Panel Jack - I'm using HD650 with 10 foot Cardas cable

I've read some threads discussing wire size, but none that lay it out specifically for these categories.

You can safetly use 22 AWG for all your connections AC and DC.
Bare in mind the highest current flows through DC section about 300mA on the AC side the current is very very small.

1. 18AWG
2. Just your regular hookup wire... 22AWG, 24AWG, etc
3. Again anywhere from 22AWG higher
4. Ditto

I like to use 24AWG solid wire for 2, 3, and 4.
