So... I use my J3 in the car sometimes via AUX in, in which case I will have the volume at max.  Two times (and only two times) I've forgotten it was at full volume when I turned it on with my IE8's plugged in and they started playing at max volume (40).  I immediately turned it down (IEM's weren't in my ears *phew*).

I am wondering if there is anyway this may have damaged the IE8 driver.  I can't hear any obvious change in the sound and I'm not really paranoid that it did damage it, but I can't help but wonder...  Anyone have any input?

probably not. I tried melting a diaphragm of a cheap chinese iem once. It took a whole lot more power than an mp3 player can output.(ended up hooking it up to a small speaker amp. It was really loud for 15 seconds then a burnt plastic smell)

Probably no damage unless you had them at high volume for long periods.

Consider it like some mega burn-in, if you're a believer of that.

Haha!  I actually did consider that it may have actually helped the sound.  Can't tell though!
