hey there.

i just tried out my Grace with the k1000's... and it works pretty darn well! plenty of volume. and everything sounded clear and dynamic. i realize that this amp can only output 1/2 of the k1000's 1watt rating, right? but i get plenty of volume anyway.

i'm thinking of dumping my expensive 300b based tube amp (which performs incredibly, but just costs too much)... the grace 901 seems to work very well.

I did a review on it awhile back.

Source makes a huge difference with the Grace + K1000, as it's brutally onforgiving. (Modding my sound card made a huge difference) I heard the K1000's on Stuart's Conrad Johnson, it was definitely less fatiguing, but I still like how quick and tight the Grace is. Also, the imaging is more focused. Although I think the K1000's would probably benefit from balanced output amps though.

I won't give up on tubes yet. It's just not practical for me at this point. I'm always itching for source upgrades. The wallet does not always abide.
