Which open cans are liquid?

I actually find the HD650 and HD600 to be some of the "driest" (ie least liquid) sounding headphones I have ever heard. I don't think warm and liquid are the same thing, and I have come to realizing that the dry way the HD650/600 present music is what really kills them for me. I like warmer headphones, I love the signature and balance of the 650's, but they just sound so damn dry, that is what makes them boring IMO, because they have plenty of detail, more than many other phones that are considered "exciting". That dryness goes away with state of the art amps, but I can't afford that, so...

Phones that have the most liquid sound, IMO, would be

HP2
vintage RS1
K240 Sextett
Orthodynamics (or at least the Yamaha YH-100)

edit: also AKG K400- maybe THE most liquid sounding phone I've ever heard...just too much treble and not enough bass for my taste

Cary CAD-300SEI and K1000 is said to be a great match, so why not give it a go?

I find the K1000 to be quit liquid

My HD650s are not liquid sounding, no water spills out of em, or muddied by liquid. It's clear and wonderful.

X2 on the Sextett, and especially the K-400
I found the treble and bass of the K-400 quite balanced actually. Though they sound a bit lightweight to my ears.

The most liquid sounding headphone I've enountered is the PS-1. Too much liquidity and sparkle for my taste, though.

The HD 650 is liquid-smooth as well, and there I can tolerate this trait much better.

The most liquid can I have heard are the Grado PS-1s. RS-1s to my ears are not too far behind.

Edit: Jazz beat me too it.

The JVC DX1000 is the most liquid sounding headphone that I've heard with any 300b amp. This is as liquid as it gets. The K1000 is truly a great match with the Cary but the speed of the AKG's balance out to something more neutral.

I'm not sure how you guys define "liquid". From the head-fi glossary: Liquid - Textureless sound

For me liquid sounding...It's more of the Orthodynamic or the old AKG models, and maybe the Yamaha RH5MA.

Sennheisers don't have a veil, that is entirely the property of amps. Some amps will make Sennheisers sound veiled, some don't. I haven't heard your Cary, so I don't know, but the specs sure look like it would drive the HD-650 well.

LOL. I'm not totally sure what I mean. Maybe I mean smooth with very little graininess. When music is shrill and grainy it ruins it for me. Liquid to me means warm, rich and clear.

For me, liquid is effortly smooth, having a flowing quality without harshness or abrupt breaks.
