Which headphone/amplifier with a Modwright Sony 999ES?

As the poll and subject say, what is your opinion on this?
Also, please explain why you made the choice you did.

Heh, I voted HE-60 and KGSS. I liked that combo when I heard it while the AKG's and Stax have never really done that much for me... (And since I haven't heard any Woo Audio products I couldn't vote for them).

there arent much head-fiers here who own the Modwright 999ES, so you cant blame for the scarce response

for me personally, I use a hybrid amp. tubes just does it for me.

Sorry for reviving this old thread, I use Ray Samuels Raptor + Grado HP2 for a heavenly combo

Using the same tubes for the output stages on the 999es and the Raptor seems to create some sort of special synergy.
