PowerAMP is quite good, unfortunately I have a SGS2 so the sound really sucks.

I just use spotify since I can't tell the difference between FLAC and 320Kbps ogg.

Streaming through Spotify, and PowerAmp for local files.
Not sure if I like the latest GUI on PA. Don't exactly know why I shy away from it, as it actually works pretty well, probably just me being old and stubborn dont liking change.

Viper4Android is amazing and I have been using it for years. It is really one of the only ways to get system wide parametric equalization but unfortunately it does require root. Having a system wide equalizer is really great so you can use any app.

I keep an old phone around as my music player cause it has Viper and a headphone jack without worrying of rooting my current Android phone.

If you can root I would highly recommend this route.

Use USB Audio Player on my Cayin N6ii. Primarily use it for Tidal streaming.

Are there any real alternatives to UAPP with my xDSD and Note 9?
Nothing wrong with UAPP in my opinion, unless you dislike the UI? Worked fine with my xDSD.
