my love - sr225 driver is dead. however, I have a denon d1001, which has the same driver size with grado. I always hate the bass from d1001, uncontrolled and slow for my main genre: metal. So... let's the operation begin

now, my grado has sweet sound from both headphone, with forward mid range and tight bass but still grado's soundstage :). Otherwish, just simply image a denon with tigh bass, forward mid and grado's soundstage.

I use mogami starquad

Wow, I couldn't do that, that's for sure!

I guess it's a SR1001 then.

I'm liking this! For all the mods we do on our headphnes, its unusual to see people swapping drivers between models. Way to make something truly unique sounding.

Happy listening!

I'm thinking of doing something similar.  I have a D1001 in rough shape (broken headband, flaking pads) and thought to try the drivers in some 7Keys cups made for Grados.  Wondering is this mod can still be recommended, and if you did anything other than transplant.  The Denon driver is conspicuously missing form the non-Grado Grado thread.
