Hi all,
What's better sounding than Creative Aurvana Live! for up to $120?
I will appreciate stylish cans (no must).
I want closed cans (so I won't disturb people).

Thanks.

at that price range it's all subjective/personal preference.

Here is a list of cans I made from a different thread.

Full list to consider (Close/Semi-Portable)

Audio Technica ATH-M50.

Denon D1001 or Creative Aurvana Live!

Shure 440 or 840.

Sony MDR-V6

ATH-ES7

(Open)

Audio Technica AD700

Grado SR60/SR80

Alessandro MS-1

You must consider also the Fostex T50RP or the Audio Technica ATH-M40FS in that price range if you like flat response with very good quality sound.

The Creative Aurvana Live are definitely solid performers for the price.  The AKG K518 can be added to the list above, although they are just different sounding, not better.  If you want better than the CAL, which are the same as Denon 1001, you will have to consider moving up the Denon ladder, although this will break your budget.

As has been said already, you aren't going to get anything "better" than the CAL in that price-range. You can find things with different qualities, but nothing that's difinitively "better".

The Sony MDR-V6 has hard, textured bass that makes the CAL's whimper and hold their flabby butt in horror, but they're also pretty harsh in the upper-midrange and treble. Additionally, they lack the CAL's sense of headspace, which is something that you're not gonna find easy to replace.

The Shure SRH840's are a little above your price-range, at about $150-$180, but they seem to be well liked. I've never heard them myself, but they are acclaimed as having decent soundstage, with good bass and very refined detail-retrieval.

I had the V6 and CAL!s. Sambones is right in my opinion.

After a while the CAL!s had to go for the bass had a 'fuzzy quality' and for home listening I preferred the V6.

You can go for something entirely different like an AKG K141 or another headphone from another brand in the same price range. Second hand Ultrasones are an option too. Just look around.
