I have a "problem". I can choose between a Beyerdynamic DT990 and DT770.

Thing is, the Beyerdynamic is 2-3 years old and used. They cost me 1000 NOK (about 140 US dollars). The DT770 250 ohm cost me 1377 NOK (about 200 US dollars). They're new directly from the store.

Yup, no question - the dt990 2005 are a better choice for music......best would be the 600 ohm version. I should mention the 2003 are considered inferior to the prior version..............UNLESS, you're asking about gaming - then the dt770 become the superior selection.

If taken care of use headphones should be of no concern. There are folks here that have headphones that are 10 and even 20 years old and older and are used regularly and still sound as good as they did when new or even better.

Which DT770?
The pro 250 ohm (than DT990 is better), or the 2005 consumer edition (than DT990 is not better, just different)?

Does it have written "Pro" anywhere on the DT770?
The consumer edition is also 250 ohm. And they sound very different from each other.
