Guess 1
1. An in line microphone that plugs directly into your phone with a built in CTIA to OMTP adapter so that it can be used on any 3.5mm port.
2. First Button is the all purpose button to answer calls.
3. Lower Button is the switch to change between CTIA/ OMTP TRRS standard.

1. It's an IEM noise purifier for 3.5mm headphone outputs.

2. The first button is a mic passthrough on/off switch for when used with smartphones.

3. The second button is an IEMatch switch.

1) What is this new product? Where is it used?   You plug your headphones into the log end of it. The other end is connected to a source. It's designed to improve compatibility/synergy between numerous headphones and sources such as smart phones.
2) What is the first button for – the one on the main barrel (on the left)?  This barrel is a tiny amp with a gain switch.
3) What is the second button for – the one on the 3.5mm connector (on the right)?    This is an impedance switch.

Also, 2) could be and impedance switch and 3) could let you switch between balanced and single ended.
