What do you specifically like about Hybrid / Tribrid IEMs?

I like Tribrids because many of them have a non-boosted Treble area which makes them very realistic for percussion sounds (especially cymbals). Yet they still have amazing detail retrieval due to EST or BA drivers.

Personally I don’t think the drivers used above the bass regions matter at all as long as they are implemented well. With the rest of the audio world you can spend $500 on everything and it’ll sound amazing if it’s set up properly. You can spend $100,000 and if it’s not set up properly it can sound like absolute garbage. Using the right drivers for the application and implemented them well are all that really matters.

That being said, IEM companies appear to have figured out how to implement ESTs fairly well, it will be interesting to see what happens once they have that completely figured out. We’re close, at least some companies. But still not at the point where most will touch them for anything other than marketing reasons.
