What are your opinions of Coheed & Cambria?

I saw them live last year when I went to go see the Blood Brothers and they weren't too bad.

I don't have any of their music, but I guess I don't mind it if it's playing.

"Welcome Home" has a sweeeet intro!

I used to enjoy "in keeping secrets of silent earth:3" or whatever its called, but the singers voice has become really annoying to me and I just can't listen to it anymore.

I absolutely love them. I have all of their cds, their live concert dvds, and their graphic novels. I even have Claudio's (the singer) side project 'The Prize Fighter Inferno'. I love how all of their albums intertwine to tell an epic Sci-Fi story.

I am usually not a fan of this type of music, meaning fast pop punky guitars and high pitched vocals, and for that matter, I'm not a big fan of prog music either. I have no particular issue with either of these types of music, I'm just not a fan.

But for some reason when the pop-punky + high pitched vocals is combined with prog elements, it becomes interesting to me.

Having said that, Co&Ca is one of those bands I got really into for a few months, but then kind of backed off from. I still like them, but I don't listen to them nearly as much as I used to. The epic sci-fi story really appeals to me, as I'm a big fan of sci-fi/fantasy. And I definitely think they are good song writers, capable of writing harmonies that can give me that "wow" feeling.

I own In Keeping Secrets Of Silent Earth: 3 and Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV. I think the latter is the superior record. The second track on Good Apollo, that slow, dreamy-creepy acoustic number is a totally rad track.

Actually, talking about them, I think I might go home and throw on one of the CDs.

I like them, but I only listen to them when I have time to listen to the whole CD ("Good Apollo", "Keeping Secrets") because of the whole concept-thingy.
Good Apollo was one of my fave CD's from last year, and I still listen to it quite a bit (it's creepy & fun!) on my modded SR60's + Go-Vibe + vintage PCDP and it's a blast to listen to (darn good SQ)!!!

J-Pak, I don't know if you've heard Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV, their latest release, but the singer did tone it down a bit. Certainly not as piercing and shrill as "Favor House Atlantic". I find his voice more pleasant on Apollo, but its definitely still Geddy Lee-ish.

I read somewhere that he is changing his voice ever so slightly for each album to show the change in age of the main character of the story.

It's hard to deny that the guy has a lot of control over his voice. I don't think any of us could get in front of a mic and wail like he dies on the newest album.
