Used prices: Emu-teak, Quad Era 1, Hifiman He6se (you need a hefty amp for the hifiman, though)

Sennheiser HD600 or 650 but ONLY if you’ve got the amp for it. Otherwise the DCA + Drop Open X are easy to drive, tunable and musically satisfying.

HE6SE v2, it cost $500 on sale, but by value it's the best under $2K, if your amp can drive them.
