Been swimming in this for the last week or so...
 

 
It will take months to fully grasp and appreciate it all, but I'm thoroughly enjoying my journey! Never been a huge Liszt fan even though I love piano music. Beethoven, Chopin, Schumann and my beloved Schubert all surpass him in regards to touching my soul or 'moving' me. But for pure imagination and originality Liszt is right up there with Beethoven. He was a genius no doubt. He had an extraordinary life and was loved by everyone, but in my naive perspective and this may sound very nihilistic - the only music that really starts to affect me on a deeper level from his output are his much later works - when he was dying.... When life wasn't so good.
 
But that's art for ye folks!
