I'm selling off some gear and hopefully it'll result in enough funds to get me a Stax setup.

My current goal is for the Stax L700 and the SRM-353X or there about.

That said, would the other energizers be worth considering a massive upgrade over the other? Or should I just go with the SRM-252S?

Also is the L700 a decent choice compared to the L300 and L500 or should I consider others?

Thanks in advance for any and all input. It is much appreciated.

You should watch Z's review of the L500 and L700 on youtube: https://youtu.be/YB48jsRxpTY

tl:dr He basically feels that the L500 is almost exactly the same as L300 besides some small cosmetic changes, but L700 is in a world of its own. If you're going to go with the L700, get the better energizer. Otherwise, get the L300 with the smaller energizer and save your money until you can get the L700.

You can get cold feet, but not wet feet.......

Wet feet shouldn't matter unless your equipment has bad earthing.

Yup. I've seen Z's estat vids several times over. I've also read that the L700's are basically mini-009's.

I got my eyes on a pretty nice higher end Stax branded amp and I'll likely be aiming for some 007's since I mostly listen to metal. While I do prefer an analytical sound with boosted sub bass I think I'll start with the 007's. $2k is quite an easier brick to swallow than $4k.

That said, I did get my hands on a Koss ESP-950 and holy chicken wings... if this is the worst estats has to offer then I'm going to be a... insert funny thing to be happy about.
