Simple answer would be:
Wait to see.

But i want some advice from you guys:
Experiences or what not, out the box.

Personally, out of the box the W2's sounded OK, however the bass was terrible. (Although i didn't have the perfect seal then) I could still hear the bass being distorted.
After around 5hrs or so, the bass calmed down, and worked/sounded as it should have done.

HOWEVER:
After buying the UE Metro fi220's for ONLY £15...(although without a deal they should be worth £35) they seem to have MORE bass than the Westone 2's...(And that's speaking for the Metro fi220's out the box. Thus out the box, being better than the W2's which had over 5hrs "burn-in")

Iv'e had them for around 10-14 days + been listening to them for at least 1-2hrs a day.
More so clarity wise...they seem to be matched.
Don't get me wrong the W2's are good, but for £200? Maybe £100..not even that.
Nevertheless, am i missing something?

Maybe my ears can't pick it up?
Or
Maybe i need some more time?

Thanks for your time!

I don't have the Westone, but generally speaking armature based IEMs don't need burn in. For the bass problem, try getting a better seal or use an equalizer. You might also need some time to get used to its sound signature.

all headphone need to burn-in.
not for driver only. cable, connector, ... need to burn in too.

Well:
Seal wise:
Iv'e tried them, and i found the P-series, regulars are great. They seal, isolate/noise cancel perfectly.
So it can't be the seal, causing the "problem", because they are more comfortable, better inserted than any other IEM, iv'e ever inserted into my brain :p

more so about improving:
"Personally, out of the box the W2's sounded OK, however the bass was terrible. (Although i didn't have the perfect seal then) I could still hear the bass being distorted.

The only thing convincing me to keep them is:

Good reviews, they should be excellent, great company, bought from HHA, great people.

Sound wise: I love the sound signature more than the sony's but probably not as much as the UE metro fi220's....which is embarrassing i know....like saying i prefer a ford rather than a lamborghini...but that's what i'm feeling.

In simpler terms: I should be getting 500 bhp, but only getting 90,. as i would do with a ford escort.

But if it doesn't improve...
what do you suggest i do?
I mean it's only around 10days old....
Brand new in other words. P-series regular used a lil + triple flange tip cut to 2 tip. That's it.

As ebayer's would say:
mint condition...

I'd say no, Westone don't need burn in. But even if they do, your pair should certainly be burnt in by now.

Did you try them out at HHA first?

I did, and they weren't bad.
Also tried the tf10's, se530, w3's, um2, um3x.
Out of all of them w3's were the best.

Then i preferred the sound sig of the w2's in comparison to the se530's (same price bracket).

So i decided to go for the w2's.

Although as i said, when i first got them in...i was like what the hell? Where is the bass?! and why is it distorted!?

Bass: Got better with different seal
Distorted: Got better over time

I read many Japanese saying CK100 changes with burn in, and start to sound good after 100 hours or so. In Head-Fi, I have read some saying SE530, SF5vi2, and SM3 changes with burn in.

I think the burn in thing is really a myth. Some say the BA drivers don't need any burn in, but the crossover and cable benefits from burn in.

well i do believe in burn-in as:
When i got my mdr-ex500's
they were terribly annoying (too much treble), bass lacking. Got the right seal, and around 50-100hrs later, they became amazing. Same principle with the mdr-ex85's.

Even my logitech z-5500 sound system has gotten better....the bass is much better than it was when i first got it, regardless of my new sound card.

So i do believe in it...and do believe things get better.
But they should be better or such when you get them. I haven't noticed that with the W2's, more so quite the opposite.

When i got my Z-5500 i was blown away in comparison to my X-540's...but then time went by...they became unmatchable....Sometimes i went clubbing and said to myself...my Z-5500 bass could deliver better sounding/pounding bass than that!

I believe in burn in :)

I do think that my IE8 changes significantly, as well as my SM3.

However, the reason I said burn in is a myth is because, I don't have a good audio memory, but I 'feel' there is some changes in sound before and after burn in, which might be the cause of the drivers have actually undergone some 'warming-up', or it is just plainly because my 'noob' brain has accustomed to the sound ^^;

I feel the same way, although sometimes you can hear..or sometimes feel the difference :p!

Trust me..you don't want to mess with a Z-5500 bass...It might just shake your whole house...like it did for me :D

I've voted no - I think that over a short time expectations change and acustomisation occurs - I definately enjoy my W2's more with time but put it down to being more used to them as time goes by.  I could be wrong tho

@ totally dubbed , i don't think they will change after the time you have been using them, strange that you dont get enough bass with complys , are you sure you got the westone 2 and not SE420
