WBT Silver vs Cardas Quad Eutectic Solder?
Dec 30, 2003 at 8:54 AM Post #2 of 23
I use cardas, but i would ideally use more WBT for safety reasons, because the solder contains no lead. I only have experence working with the cardas, and it's plenty easy to work with though, so no complains there

I use Cardas, WBT or Kester depending on what the person I'm building for wants but my favorite is Cardas by far. It flows well and is very easy to use. My all time favorite was Wondersolder but I can't find up here in the Great White North.

Actually, I just tried the RatShack 63/37 (0.050) and the 62/36/2 (0.22) and it isn't bad at all, but probably overpriced when you can get the Kester from Digikey or whatever on 1 lb. spools. I also have the Wondersolder and like it, although I won't claim to hear a difference between solders.

I've tried the Homeground silver one, and IMO has too much flux while soldering, to the point that I preffer the RS...I have not tried the rest....is that normal in silver soldering???

Woo. Cardas is pulling ahead.

I guess it's ease of use is an important feature.

Damn cheap ass 60/40 is harder to work with, and it doesn't last very long either. Damn corrosion...........

Time for me to chuck the crappy 60/40 Rat Shack stuff.
