[size=small] I have a Sony Walkman WM-D6C that is on its last legs. I am not willing to let it die until I have rebuilt CD/MD versions of my cassette coollection.

In particular, the unit tends to eat tape quite a bit regardless of my extensive cleaning. The motor has stopped altogether at times but restarts when I have left it alone a long while.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I should approach a clean, adjust and lubrication (CLA) process? What type of oil is best? What parts should I be sure to clean & oil? What parts should I leave alone altogether?

Thanks very much in advance for any suggestions.

If it is that critlcal to you, I would suggest that you send it directly to SONY. NOT an autherized facility, but directly to SONY.

They have closed just about all but 2 FACTORY SERVICE FACILITIES so make sure you get it to the right folks. They have the knowledge, parts and insight on how to fix them.

After all....they invented it!
