Check out this article on Gizmodo: http://gizmodo.com/5872804/samsungs-new-vacuum-tube-dock-plays-with-your-iphone-and-your-galaxy

Samsung just released a iPhone/Galaxy S dock with "Vacuum Tube Technology". I wonder what tubes they are using? I find it funny that they act like tubes are some new technology that they came up with.
Seems like its just a gimmick and i doubt that it sounds good. But it seems like audiophilia is hitting the mainstream but companies are taking advantage of people that don't know better. Hopefully the dock has a better sound than beats, at least they used nice looking wood, it does look nice though.

its definitely cool that samsung is trying to make a first step to bring tube gear back into the mainstream.  I wonder what kind of tube these use though, my initial thought was a 5670 due to the size, but it is very difficult to tell from the pictures.

I'll bet Samsung is using new production tubes made in Europe, or more specifically, Russia.

The phone dock has been out for about a year. It uses ECC82 tubes. Here's a review:

The past always comes back in some form. Its natural because its exclusive and different than the current trend.

I was surprised to see movies from the 80s suddenly don't look outdated because the fashion trends nowadays are similar.

Yeah, Samsung just needs to differentiate their products from the rest of the pack. Tubes seem to be it this year. Next year it might be quantum dots or Class D. I like how on their marketing copy (http://www.samsung.com/us/2012-vacuum-tube-amplifier/) they show two waveforms - a 'digital' one that's clipping and a non-clipping waveform that's supposed to be from a tube amp. Sigh... it's all so mixed up I don't even know where to start.

Nobody thinks they're superior. They think they sound better.

You forgot the "IMO" at the end.
