Vintage Marantz electrostatic headphones?

Does anyone have experience with these vintage headphones? Are they Stax OEM?

I bought a pair of Marantz electrostatic se-1 headphones in 1975 for (as I recall) about $50.  They sounded much better to me than other headphones I auditioned.  Sad to say, one channel went out after about 10 or 15 years.  Marantz also made model se-1s; I don't know what the difference was.

I know this is a top-flight necro, but it's an interesting thread! :)

As far as the question about STAX OEM, I don't think so - those look very Koss-like to me. A lot like the ESP/6 actually. I'd expect them to be quite heavy and decent-to-good sounding. I'd say the ESP/950 should be a considerable improvement over them (both in sound, and in comfort), but that's a lot more money than $50. :xf_eek:

I dig the looks of that transformer box too.
