I have a CEC DAC which only does 24/192 through its xlr (aes/ebu) digital input.
 
What options are there for a usb->spdif converter that has aes/ebu output?
 
Currently, I'm using this one:

It is not a bad little unit for $200 - but I don't know whether the "wireless" part of it will be affecting the sound quality.

Found another one - no indication of price yet, but it looks cheaper than the Empirical and Hiface.

Alternately you can ditch the CEC and buy one of these.

ditching the CEC would be like burning my house down...I've tried too many DACs to find such a good sound....but thanks for the tip!!

  O.K. Then. Don't ditch the CEC. Still buy a RME though.
 
The job you want doing is a bit strange but the RME does it  and compared to what you already spent on the CEC it is a massive bargain.
 
If you want to connect to a desktop PC then a PCIe card is another potential solution. Look at the RME HDSPe RayDat (~ $600) or the E-MU 0404 (PCI version) (~$100).
 
If you are using a laptop though it's going to be a bit tricky as portable and AES/EBU are not something most manufacturers see a market for.
