Unveiled: Meet the HD 620S

I've never agreed with something more. I'd love the 6XX except for the low-mid range bloom AND the stifling sensation I get from the small soundstage. The first feature is easily addressed with EQ, but the second is not.

If this has a larger stage with the smooth tonality and timbre of the 600 line it'll be a winner in my book.
It's actually wider than many, many open headphones I've heard.

It's not possible for one headphone to accommodate all personal preferences, but we are pretty confident that we are filling a decent sized hole in the market with it's tuning and presentation. Hope you get to hear them with your own gear and ears 👍
I will buy it to hear it for sure i m curious but why put glued instead removable headband pad like 6 series if this headphone name 620s and put singe side cable instead series cables which i own and 660s2 have fantastic cables and also 4.4mm and if will be compatibe with hd620s will be niceeeee....but ok only glued headpad is shame for 6series name...other that i buy it and try it to hear what tuning have it...I hope have sweets delicate tuning like have 660s2 which is the best headphones of i series for sure...it will have 660s2 treble like 650 will be the perfect tuning for me which enjoys technicalities and also relaxing smother sound...same story with 560s and 599 which more smoother is 599 but 560s have more technicalities and more strident thin sounding compare 599...which is more musical headphone of the two....I hoped with 660s2 tuning to be same in 620S with more musical approaches but with more soundstage and more powerful bass will be the instant winner for many of us...because 560s is buy far less enjoyable for music for sure is a analitical studio headphones for mastering for sure but not match for normal people who enjoy listen all kind of genere music like old and new staff with soul and musicality wich have 650 and 660s2...and now aune ar5000 is the headphones which surpass my expectations very natural organic sound like 660s2 but with better soundstage and little more fuller bass...real winner for the price...I have hope for 620s which from graff need to have more fuller 👊 sound which 660s2 still not have enough for pure enjoyment...but is still have it enough for some...thanks
Sorry for my English

i was pleasently surprised by the HD620s today as well. indeed no boxy closed back wonkyness. No muddy boom. Elevated tight and punchy bass. Really good spaciousness.

on some tracks It was a bit hard sounding in the upper mids on others it was spot on. treble was fine for me.
Promising headphone guys.

Why same problem again...not put instead more smoother sound with top technicalities without push to far up...why is still not understanding this filosofy...most people still prefer natural organic smoother top end same story with meze 109 pro fanatic headphone bass superior and soundstage wow...midle spot on and for finishing strident treble how put off many people to not buy or after hear it immediately sell it only because of treble to elevated metallic one.....Sennheiser must do opposite not same fault i hope i m wrong with talk about 620s tuning 😀

Heard them also today in Munich.
I liked them quite a lot and hope I will win one.
Unfortunately a bit to noisy at the show for a more detailed view on them but I will definitely demo them more closely later this year.
I am looking for a new head phone for watching TV shows which has more bass as my current HD 58x but still keep this clarity and is a closed headphone and I think the 620S will tick all of these boxes.

I think you know the answer 😁 haha

But seriously, thanks for being an awesome customer. That's a great collection!!!

I can confidently say that the HD 620S has a unique tuning among all of the cans you just listed so there is almost zero redundancy from an overall signature perspective. Of course, I hope you get to try them as your opinion is the Golden one 👍👍
Well I'll take your word for it and add them to my recent acquisition of the IE600/IE900/IE400/IE500/IE800/IE800S.

Thanks for your confidence, I share it :)

Regarding measurements: I was a bit hesitant to directly compare the HD 620S with the HD 600 in a graph because it's an apples-to-oranges comparison with closed vs. open. The new Focal headphones measure quite similar, but to my ears the tuning works much better for the closed variant than the open one.

For closed-back headphones, similar to IEMs, you need a bass lift to sound natural compared to speakers or open headphones. On the other hand, even though it doesn't show more amplitude than the HD 600 in the treble, it does sound brighter. The comparison graph is a handy marketing tool, but I urge you to try to listen to them. Regarding distortion, don't worry. Closed-back headphones work with a closed front volume, so the diaphragm doesn't need to excurse as much, and THD will be a magnitude lower than comparable open headphones.
Interesting. Solderdude's reviews go a long way with me, and I will have to listen to it, although I am a confirmed open back fan.

The IE300 is sitting next to the HD800/8XX/800/820/25.

Favourite of all Sennys would be the OG HD800, 660S2 and IE900.

The most eye opening was the HD800, a headphone that dragged the headphone world into the next era.

Cannot wait to hear the 620s. As a lifelong fan of the 600 and 650, I must say that I prefer the 660s2 over both of them. I also reviewed the 490 Pro and that was a tremendous headphone as well (caveat being the bass distorts at considerably high volume) with a wide and open sound and really tight sound. If one listens at moderate volume, the 490 Pro is excellent. 620s seems really promising. The new Sennheiser products really are hitting it out of the park!

The headphones that took me down this rabbit hole years ago was the HD 558, so having a chance at an office viable pair in the same form factor is quite appealing.

Will velour pads be available as an accessory ?
Plastic (jokingly called pleather) is meh 👎

Thank you! @Jermo K and his team mare doing a great job. We're excited for you to hear it.

Nothing against the HD 558 but the HD 620S will be a massive upgrade, closed-back or not. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. That was a gateway headphone for so many of us!

They already are...you can use pads from the 500 series, but there's no real reason to because it alters the sound too much from what the intended sound is. I would argue that judging them without feeling them is meh, no? They're spec'd for this product from an acoustic and luxurious comfort perspective, and are much more consistent to produce at scale (sound, fit) than genuine leather. We hope you get to hear them for yourself 👍

All clear, and Yes, I will give them a listen :L3000:

To me however, plastic pads will always be just plastic pads, no matter what the marketing crowd like to call them. Will the pads be a dealbreaker? Too early to say. I will experiment with the pads from my 560s :)
