If you have a look on V-Moda's web shop they sell their mic cables on their own for about $20 USD and they work really well with lots of headphones like sennheiser and anything with a 3.5mm jack in them. You can also buy the beats cables separately but I find the V-Moda ones are the best quality and are reinforced

Ahhh Sorry - bit of a noob with in ear tech Now i see what UE stands for   I reckon your best option would be the DIY it. You could take apart one the the cables I mentioned above and recable it with some high quality cable, fit a 4 pole jack and the UE connectors. Maybe shrink tubing over some bendy wire at the headphone end to allow you to bend it to shape. As I said .... I have little knowledge of IEMs but I am sure there will someone on here who will be able to give you some pointers

looking for some kind DIYers to help me with this, hence the title 'Challenge'

I'm surprised how no on else has ever made it/attempted. Will be very extremely helpful since the only one available is the UE one but they are far too fragile...

Compared to the hacked up crap you will probably get diy'ing it your probably better off spending the $250.
