My TV speaker (left side only) is making a horrible, loud, popping/static noise. I just hooked the TV up in my new room at my new place and have the cable going strait into the TV right now.

Anybody have any idea what could be going on?

Would a cable box being hooked up make any difference? Power thing? Or just something broken or shorted out in there?

(The TV was stored near a swamp cooler for about a month. Maybe that caused a short??)

Thank you.

Could be...

Have you tried connecting another video source to the TV, like a VCR or DVD player? That way, you can rule out the cable.

Sounds like a blown speaker to me. If your tv has a audio line out you can run that to an amp and listen with speakers or hphones to eliminate the processor in the tv.
