x2 -sorry
I don't see how
How is the u2 not a good match for the gr07? Maybe not Straight from it as its never recommended to do. The u2 to a good amp will be fine with the gr07
I guess it's the pairing. UAE23 is not really natural, too smooth for some, with the laid back mid, it might be too relax (lifeless) for some, especially with bad pairings.
I don't like the UAE23 sound with Vsonic GR07 Bass Edition, too slow and too smooth, no music energy. But with JVC HA-FXD80, UAE23 sings quite well, especially for vocal and jazz, it is pretty good actually.
Just for reference, I've included my current setup. Dell laptop running Foobar 2000 (WASAPI event) > HifiMeDIY Sabre DAC > Visonic GR07BE. My media is ripped CDs by the Lame encoder using EAC and setting is highest quality V0. To summarize it's a cheap easy to use DAC that has good specs but doesn't sound any better than hooking up to regular headphone jack on my laptop.
You are right. What do you think is the Fiio E6 enough like an amp?
Well, after getting my 1st shipment ripped off in transit, Stoner sent out another without a hitch. Thank you, Stoner.
I'm really liking the DAC and think it's a great buy. I also have the Dragonfly v1.2 and HiFimeDIY non-async. All three are excellent DACs for the money and work flawlessly with Windows 7/8, all getting their drivers loaded automatically. I use JRiver MC.
I highly recommend the addition of a USB isolation board and power supply. This opens up the sound considerably and is another worthy purchase. I use these:

with the upgraded Cardas cable:

I use this combo at work with the C&C BH2 amp (another great deal). This all makes for a very nice, low-cost desktop rig. My V6-S ciem's love it. I can leave my Portaphile 627 at home with the HD600's.
