they look like the stock pads
Agree completely, Smeggy is a top notch craftsman and a pleasure to work with.
What wood are those?
Madagascar Ebony
I've been enjoying my pair of Smeggy built curly Koa Thunderpants that I got from another member for about a month now. Gotta say that Smeggy's workmanship on these pair are top notch. There's definitely bass if you feed the cans with a proper amp and achieve good seal with them. The bass isn't in your face type of bass but goes low and is balanced with the lush mids and highs of this can. Currently listening to them with stock pads and single ported enclosure. Will be investing in a pair of O2 pads soon.
I am in a learning process and I have a few questions;
1. Smeggy ?
2. 02 pads ?
Is it a DIY ? Can I order the Thunderpants?
I have the lowly T20rp Mk II and I love the mid but the HF is kind of roll-off which I can boost the treble by +2db to my liking. I can get the T50rp @ B & H and how do I go from there to order the rest?
Thank you.
Yes, you can DIY your own Thunderpants or you can have Smeggy build one for you since he is the originator of the Thunderpants. PM him to work out the details if you do decided to have hiim build you a pair. 02 as in Stax 02 earpads for a better seal to give better bass.
For those who might not be familiar with the Stax pads, here are the two varieties:
Black http://cgi.ebay.com/STAX-Ear-Pads-SR-007A-Series-Pair-BLACK-/390310460878?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5ae050fdce
Brown http://cgi.ebay.com/STAX-Ear-Pads-SR-007-Series-Pair-BROWN-/200602104145?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2eb4d13151
I have the black ones and they are extremely comfortable. The black pads use different materials than the brown.
