I see sideloading is possible on z5. Would install streaming services work?
there is barely any info on this model...
but Samba and dlna is very interesting
AFAIK the apk’s released by Zisan were a Z5 “remote control” for Android. The Z5 has a built-in MPD server, which you could control from an MPD client (the apk) via WiFi. Theoretically, streaming services (plugins) could work…. Whether it actually works, or even whether the whole Z5 works as intended with no major bug, is another story! The Z4/Z5 HW is very good—not much to tinker with. Even the cheap RT6863D are most likely Ok if not pushed to clipping levels. But IMO, Zisan completely missed the opportunity to open the SW, killing the “Zishan tinkering” spirit. That’s why there is very little info on the Z5, at least in this thread…
EDIT: And I forgot the price! The Z5 is not cheap…

The original Z5 had (has?) a built-in MPD server. The Zishan “apk” (Android app) was the remote control for this MPD server: you could (still can?) side load the apk on an Android phone and control the Z5 remotely through WiFi…

MPD (Music Player Daemon) is a free, open source music player server, see: https://www.musicpd.org/

Theoretically, the Z5 could become a whole house music server and integrate with other MPD controllers/app.

Now, I don’t have the Z5 and I have not heard whether this feature actually worked, and how smooth/reliable it was (is?)… It doesn’t seem to be much advertised, and I don’t know if it is still supported, or even included with the latest Z5C.
