I just picked up the DC-Elite and it's excellent. Haven't been able to remove the Z1R from it but I imagine the Szalayi has some wonderful synergy as well?
indeed, bass is tighter and the treble is shinier... big fan so far

Beyerdynamic 1990pro (with eq here and there). I could easily stop at that time, but addiction took over.

Hey guys, I've just published my review of Beat Audio's Billow Mk II and Oslo Mk IV premium cables here.

Without getting bogged down in the cable debate, these newcomers are at least a refreshing difference to the tried-and-tested we keep going back to. It's always great to discover new brands, picked from obscurity, delivering seriously high-end products hardly anyone knows about. Kudos to Andrew @MusicTeck for bringing them to our attention!

Naming only one, which piece of head-fi gear represents the very best value for money for you?

Dr Juggles 1950s clone that just blew me away for the price and performance and how it makes almost every single IEM I own a delight to listen to.

So far Fibae F5, for me.

I second the Custom Art FIBAE 5.
For me great value for the money and a joy to listen to my music with it.

They just sound "right" to me, like if you're experimenting with different prescriptions of glasses or contacts and all seem a little off, and then one just clicks. When everything is in proportion and balanced for me that's exciting, as opposed to one part of the sound consistently jumping out.
Fantastic description this, and exactly how I felt about them the first time I heard them.

Assuming this counts as head-fi gear:

DDHiFi_Cases_01.jpg

ddHiFi CZ300. Only $57, and currently loaded with well over $25,000 in audio gear, comfortably, securely, spaciously. The very definition of value.

The Bellos X4 are fantastic… two hours listening tonight and loving every minute.

Note that mine are the universal version.
  1. Beautiful minimal design - personal preference
  2. Built like tanks and incredibly comfortable
  3. Pinpoint imaging
  4. Wide stereo soundstage
  5. Visceral bass that digs deep
  6. Clear, precise mids with sufficient warmth
  7. Safe but crisp and detailed treble
  8. Excellent all rounder… throw any genre at them and they perform
  9. My initials on both the shells and case :)
  10. Yet another set in the magic $1k zone where beyond the price tag diminishing returns heavily kick in

The hiby r6 pro II is absolute insane value for money especially for the price you can pick it up used. And that value improves at least 3 fold if you have an external amp like the c9 to pair it line-out with. Some of the best money I’ve spent on the hobby so far.

I just bought this case a few days ago. That modular design on the interior spoke volumes to me.

Yes love this case too - even using it to transport gear around the house with me 😂
