Yep. Back in the day there weren't too many HP amps out there that could drive it, and those that could drive the HE6 were not cheap.
These days there are plenty of amps that can manhandle those power hungry beasts, so really there is no need to go the speaker tap route anymore.

They should make the Aegis modular so I can carry up parts of it and reassemble them upstairs. 60 lbs isn’t easy to carry up 2 flight of stairs.

My Viva is 65 lbs, I feel your pain. Thing is heavy!

Late night listening. Kennerton Rognir closed-back planars (bass version with ECL-03FM pads). These headphones have fast attack and decay and love snappy bassy tracks. This one, a more modern cover byt Aaliyah of the Marivn Gaye classic, came to me via a recommendation from @BassicScience a few months ago (if I recall correctly). For some foot tapping, head-bobbing, and involuntary stance face.. play:

I had the AWAS a couple of years ago. They have beautiful mids, espeically great for vocals. Never got to roll pads and amps with them as I learned what that can do only after I sold them... That's a gorgeous wood you have there!

Hey goldwerger, you linked in your CanJam NYC impressions that both the L5000 and the AWKG improved a lot with a certain type of ZMF earpad. Could you remind me which one it was? I'd like to try it out on my AWAS to see what it'll do there.

With the L5000 (and L3000) I've used the ZMF Universe Lambskin Solid pads

with the AWKG the combo i've put togetyher (included now with these headphones in the US as alternates) is the ZMF Universe Hybrid Solid pads

They've exhibited at multiple CanJams in the past, particularly here in the States. NYC and SoCal would be your best bet!
