The Takstar, Technical Pro, Gemini Greathon, CyberX, Qpad Thread

Well, this are some pictures of my (just for fun) modded Takstar HD2000.

Wooden cups and detachable cable. And also a vintage look (or something like that)

I don't really use them much, but I had some fun modding them some months ago, trying different mods, you know. I'll probably make some extra mods to this headphones in the future.

Now they sound fuller and warmer, with more sub-bass. Their highs are still quite unrefined (unrealistic) to my ears, specially comparing with more expensive headphones.

Greetings!

Well, that doesn't help me decide on my next purchase!

I'm liking the Evo, especially considering the price, but the grass is always greener...

The EVO is awesome, but sounds best with some EQ around 4k. My first pair did have a channel go out though, needed repair.

The HD5500 is perfect for EDM. It does bleed a little into the mids with Metal, but everything is still clear. If you can buy it for ~$55 from taobao, its a great buy. $129 is a bit much though.

Once you tack on fees and shipping to the various Taobao agents, it looks to me like it's at least $70-75 for the HD5500. Still not bad, but that does limit its appeal compared to the others if it's not a clear winner.

Can anyone tell me if the Pro 80 would indeed be the best choice for recording and mixing ? So these things are very important:

- No (or not much) coloration.
- Easy to wear for long periods.
- Great isolation (should leak no sound at all).
- Honest sound, they need to let you hear exactly what you put in.

A friend of mine is just starting off a small recording studio and I think these Pro 80's would be a good buy for him instead of the usual $200 bunch out there

He has never heard my Somics, so I wouldn't know.

What I meant to say is: does the Pro 80's sound more balanced then the DT770 Pro's ?

The Pro 80 has a large dip at ~4k. This would need to be corrected via EQ for a neutral sound.

The Sony 7506 is the standard for Studio headphones at $~77.

I'm still loving my HD5500 over the HD6000, although neither are truly neutral either.

After reading the entire thread from page 1 to 70, should I go for the Gemini (Pro 80's)? I mostly listen to EDM and today's pop music..
Or would you recommend some other headphone mentioned in this thread?
