I said it before but seeing those closer pictures of the Kimber Axios the plugs look exactly the same as the Switchcraft with the only change being the original metal body has been changed for ebony wood. Interesting if that is true but pure speculation based off looks at my end.

Rowethren didn't speculate that Kimber would use cheap Switchcraft connector, but he speculates that Kimber uses connectors which has the same mechanism as Switchcrafts' (and also Pearstones', Hicons', and whatever connectors used by ForzaAudioWorks)
I am REALLY interested in those Axios cables, but I don't want to drop money close to USD1000 for cables if its connecting mechanisms to Z1R and Z7 is the same as those cheap connectors (Switchcrafts etc)

I'd say it's worth asking Kimber that question. What I will say is that on close inspection it appears to be a very well made connector that fits like a glove and seems to be made of the correct materials. The ebony is just bitchen! (California beach vernacular for "Brilliant") lolRowethren didn't speculate that Kimber would use cheap Switchcraft connector, but he speculates that Kimber uses connectors which has the same mechanism as Switchcrafts' (and also Pearstones', Hicons', and whatever connectors used by ForzaAudioWorks)

Haha, I certainly can't deny that they look damn nice! Just for reference here is a picture of the Switchcraft I am sure you will agree that the visual similarities are quite striking

Shouldn't trust a reviewer who only had the product for a short period of time. And in this case, an hour. Reviews should be done after the honeymoon period and with extensive use. My 2cents....
Woo Audio has them (see pic in last post). One pair remaining from this shipment. More coming 12/24.
No offence intended Mike. I like your production values, it's just that I can't remember your last,er,opinion. Peeps scream out for reviews.

switchcraft makes nice products.
Yeah well it's my Christmas gift to me! Jealous? lol just kidding :thumbsup_tone1:
I am, so what ! lol. I'll be there, just at a slower rate.
I think warm sounding only in comparison with the traditional audiophile sound the last decade or so that favors the boosting of higher frequencies to create clarity - but that's been discussed many times over. To me the Z1R allows for natural and perfectly balanced music. If this is too much bass for people, I don't know what to say. Anything less would be way too polite for me. I need some meat on the bones of the sound. I really can't go back to other brands like Sennheiser and Beyer at this time, as they hurt my ears (but I hear the Amiron doesn't have the traditional Beyer sound, so maybe that's a less expensive option that is similar to the Z1R). Anyway, I just got a Feliks Audio Elise tube amp to pair with the Z1R and it sounds beautiful.
So am I the only one in NJ with the Z1R??
So, when can i come by and listen ? Don't hold out on the good now lol hahaha
The tester Hicon plugs I ordered arrived and they look to be very nice quality; smooth pre lubed threads, clean machining and a decent thickness of gold platting. I am sure they will fit the Z1R as it is a standardised fitting for loads of devices but I can't confirm until they arrive. Here is a pictures for reference.

Trust me, all of these locking plugs has the same mechanism, which is a sliding up and down nuts to screw-in , and the body of the plugs itself is free rotating. It means when screwed in, it get screwed for sure, but it won't get locked as the stock cables has the Body and the mechanism to lock it
Stock cable has the lower molded body which compress against the locking shells which retained by an o-ring and when screwed in, the locking shell compress down to the molded body of the wires, and result in a lock to prevent the wires and the plug being rolled around

I know they don't work the same as the stock connectors so don't worry. I am not that fussed to be honest as long as the contact is good, the cable can't be pulled out and the plug quality is solid that is fine with me These plugs look like they will fit the bill fine.
