Thanks to noobandroid, Chodi and SunTanScanMan for your useful comments. I think that I'll hold off on the T1 until I have a balanced setup, which may be quite a while. I have invested a lot in single-ended. On the other hand, temptation is a terrible thing.

noobandroid - I have posted a lot on the Q701s - I'll find one of my summaries of my findings and I'll PM you so as not to derail this thread.

I just want to say something regarding the break-in duration of the T1´s. I've had them for two years now, and I am still noticing improvements after each listen. Sure, the ears(brain) has to get used to them too obviously. But if you own these and thinking of selling them, don't, they will improve alot over time. Please!

Hi folks, new T1 owner here (should arrive tomorrow). I'm going to drive it with my WA3, can't wait to see (or hear) how it compares against my HD800 with the WA3!

I am very interested in the WA3. Can you share your experience with that combination? Thanks.

Will do mate, it has been 5 months since the last time I heard the T1, and tomorrow the waiting ends.

So I've picked up my T1. Weirdly though, right now I don't really like it. To me it just does not really compete in the same league as the HD800. It might need more burn in, or maybe the WA3 does not really suit the T1 (though I doubt that is the case here since the WA3 is OTL).

Yes there is some burn in involved, maybe 20-30 hours use before it opens up. I have both also and they are certainly different presentations. The HD800 is technically superior (my opinion) but the T1's can sound wonderful. Depends on the qualities you value most. The T1's are never going to have that last level of transparency and massive sound stage you get from the HD800. I also found the T1's improve if you go balanced.

I know I might get crucified for this but I found the hd800 to be lifeless and artificial but that's why I'm not a senny fan

In spite of the 600 ohm rating the T1's are easier to drive well then the HD800. I've heard the HD800 sound bad also with the wrong amp and dac. The HD800's are very picky about the chain of electronics. Get it right and the HD800 can sound very stat like while the T1's always maintain that slightly warm midrange tone. That's why so many people claim the HD800's scale better. I think they are just more demanding of very high quality components in front.

Yeah I didn't have top notch amps to drive the 800s with. But I find sennys in general to be a bit dark. However I am definately glad to hear the T1 is easier to drive, because directly from my iphone the hd 800 sounded great tho veiled. And dark. Which means when I don't feel like carrying around a amp the t90s might be nice direct drive. Especially if the t1 is easier. Tho I'm increasingly surprised what my iPhone 5s can drive direct. Example 600 ohm AKG k160 goes loud and proud directly from iphone.

I feel the same and that's not saying the HD800s are bad by any stretch because I completely understand why many people love them, but they just don't suit my tastes the way T1s do

I can't say anything about the T1 never tried one :/ I just know I like my 990pros over them and hoping my new t90s can one up them. Hell I can't afford to try T1s and my wallet is afraid of me trying them

Does anyone know the serial number of latest T1? Have it hit #30xxx mark? Mine is supposed to be 2.5 months old but the serial is #11128, weird..
