The New Enleum AMP-23R Amplifier (Successor to Bakoon AMP-13R) Thread

looking forward to that zahl/enleum impression. the Zahl seems like the ultimate amp from what I've read online. I'm gg to try sell my Ferrum stack to fund for a Zahl. would actually consider an Enleum if I can find one for a good price.
Well I just bought a used WA33 (again) this morning so we'll see if I can stomach the expenses until the Zahl arrives in March lol
If you make me a good offer on my Enleum next week I might say yes smh

some closing thoughts.

- the enleum does take a while to warm up. it is worth the wait though.
- it responds well to power cords. I tried it with the Shunyata Venom X EF cord and it sounded rather bass light and thin thru the FR. swapped it out for an AQ Tornado source and the bass and mids came back and the highs were slightly rolled/pleasant sounding. also similar effect with Furutech dps 4.1 cord. Of the power cables I have, a good "in between" cord for the Enleum is the TWL Obsession.
- has a good amount of headroom; running on low gain, more than enough power for TC (I run Mitch filters and there is some -dB preamp gain) whereas with the Ferrum, on mid/normal gain, the knob has to be cranked up to get the same volume. I do not like to run Ferrum on high gain as it becomes too forward.
- as mentioned previously, don't really like it with May KTE and prefer it with Wavelight and Pasithea. I find the May KTE more neutral than warm so personal preference is a more "traditional" r2r sound pairing with the enleum.
- there is this clicking sound when changing volume and is a +/- annoyance.

casually checked the power cord prices, almost fell back from my seat.. I'd love to try something like this one day but that'll have to wait.

preliminary listening impressions

- Enleum pairs with Wavelight and Pasithea better than Holo May KTE
- Enleum sounds better and is more enjoyable than Ferrum stack (which I own)

will pen down more thoughts after a few more days of listening.
How it's Pasithea with WA33?

It's natural considering that Enleum's volume attentuation is based on multiple resistors. To have that clicking noise not audible one would have to use a resistor ladder inside a chip, but that would have to be controlled in the digital domain (our xDSD, xCAN and xDSD Gryphon), which is not something many manufacturers are keen to do.

How it's Pasithea with WA33?

the beauty of the wa33 is the multiple inputs. and it just takes a flick of the switch to compare dacs, after matching volume using either roon dsp or the dac volume control. if u flick the switch fast enough, there isn't even any break in the music.

su6 and:
aes/ebu to Pasithea and xlr to wa33
i2s to Wavelight and xlr to wa33

they sound almost identical to me. have to really concentrate to hear any difference, and even when there is, it's extremely minimal.

So I already have a Susvara and an Enleum AMP-23r (using my trusty A&K SP2000 as the source). I want to invest in a better DAC soon, and am currently doubting between the DAVE and the DCS Lina Dac. I've auditioned both and would be really happy with both. As far as I can hear: combo with DAVE sounds fuller with a more holographic soundstage, combo with LINA sounds more delicate and organic. I would appreciate some other thoughts on synergy here. Thanks!
The DAVE --> AMP-23R --> Susvara is as good as it gets IMO. Funny, listening to it now with a huge smile on my face! Not a cheap setup...but to my ears (and wallet, well worth the $$$.

Oh, can't wait to get mine delivered. hoping it gets delivered today.......

My DAC isn't as nice as DAVE, but hopefully, it is good enough :)

My DAC , Aqua La Voce S3, seems to match this amp very well. I have not heard any amp that has blacker background than this amp.

My chain

Roon --> Sonnet Hermes --> Aqua La Voce S3 --> Amp-23R --> Susvara

Great detail retrieval and dynamic at same time awesome soundstage width

That's a cool setup and your DAC makes sense with Enleum amp considering how it sounds like. I had a listen to its predecessor many years ago and remembered it as soft tuneful device that could go for hours without any fatigue.

Oh thanks :)

Yeah you summed up Aqua really well... it gives me the joy of listening music :)

have downgraded(?) at least in terms of $$$, used to have Danafrips Terminator. But sonically Aqua gives more smile in my face than the Terminator for my ears at least :)

They ought to be similar to at least some extent I think :)

Have any of you heard this with the DCA Expanse? I am trying to avoid a neutral, lean source and not having much luck yet. I am after a exciting, warmer sound with a good, punchy bass. Should this, or its predecessor the AMP-13R be on my list?
