They're good for that price. It's a definite V signature, so take in mind that if you like very vocal-dependent music these probably won't please you. They do isolate very well, have a deep and impactful bass and decent highs. Also the hardcase included is the best I've had.

I ended up ordering the above, but,I'm reading now, that I'm going to need a small amp to properly power these
I was planning on using my Iphone.
Will that be enough?

My regular desktop setup is...mjolnir/gungnir,a balanced system

Those are very nice sounding IEMs. An iphone should be able to power them sufficiently, but they do benefit from amping. If you are in to the "warm" sounding IEMs, and it looks like you are if you got the RE-262's than you might want to look into the TDK BA200. They are also warm IEMs that are more efficient and are definitely more impactful and fuller sounding. Mids are a bit more foward on the RE-262's as well, could be good or bad. You could get a cheap FiiO E11 for the HiFiMans, they should suffice.

terrific price for a very nice IEM

I had bought it back in 2010 , but its rolled off highs made me go for the higher model , RE-272 , when these brokde down

still for 99$ this is a steal , but to be honest i went and bought myself a 2nd pair of 272 as backup - who knows when the next really good 'neutral' IEM comes out ?

(funny how all re-xxx models come simultaneously at so competitive prices at once)

Same, ordered a pair of R1's with the mic.  Thanks!

Just remember they do change with burn in; and they need a deep fit to sound right. When I wear mine I have the front of the housing in the entrance to the ear canal.

The dutch version of a deal-a-day site ibood has a nice one today...

2 sets of TDK EB950 for €29.95

Checked a few other countries too, and the offer is valid too for at least Austria, Poland, Ireland, Germany & the United Kingdom, although the price may vary a little because of local currency...

http://www.ibood.com/nl/nl/product_specs/29026/Duopack_TDK_EB950_in-ears_upgrade_je_luisterervaring/ (in dutch, from the original deal I found)
http://www.ibood.com/ie/en/product_specs/29026/Duopack_TDK_EB950_In-Ears_Elevate_your_personal_listening_eperience/ (in english, from the irish ibood site as it might be easier to read for most of you :) )

And on (at least) the dutch & belgian site, there's also the TDK ST 700 for €49.95 as the 'iBood extra' deal of the day...
