I got quite recently like maybe sometimes in 2010 into hardstyle, however it's the newer kind of hardstyle or what many "old" hardstyle fans would call "NuStyle" because of the added vocals and melody. Well I for one and many other also like this more "softer" version of hardstyle which can be suprisingly deep and feel like you get carried away by the music. The original hardstyle was like all about bass & rythm, not so much melodies/tunes or any vocals which to me becomes very boring to listen to in the long run. Seems since 2007 or more obvious in 2008 this newer style has somewhat started to dominate even if more traditional hardstyle is still present, mostly because of the anthems used for the different hardstyle events (mainly in the hardstyle homecountry netherlands) such as Qlimax, Qountdown, In Qontrol etc seems to favor songs that use catchy tunes in them so that probably makes it more acceptable among people.

Anyway I uploaded a vid to youtube with 8 good tracks I like, I would easily be able to upload another equally good pack to me as there is plenty of other great hardstyle songs. I was gonna make a change to the very end but when I uploaded the 2nd time the sound quality got slightly worse even if I used exactly same settings, weird! Since sound quality is most important I decided to not bother correcting it. I used 320 kbps mp3 / 44.1kHz / joint stereo quality I uploaded as 1080p for best possible quality, turned out pretty well concidering it being on youtube.

What are your thoughts about hardstyle and what's your favorites?

For one, check out pretty much anything the Scantraxx label puts out. I've had a very love hate relationship with Hardstyle. Right now I just recently got back into it. BioWeapon is a favorite of mine that I got into last year. The KGBs are a classic Hardstyle artist that I love. Headhunterz does some really catchy stuff as well.

Yea Bioweapon is really good IMO too, I had definitely included a song of them in case I'd ever upload another part, probably this one in that case http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1csm_Yc3oxU&hd=1#t=03m52s - it puts me into auto-tap/headbang mode once bass kicks in, really catchy stuff.

I have lots of artists I like such as Beat Providers, Max Enforcer, Bioweapon, Alphaverb, Headhunterz, Wildstylez, Davide Sonar, D-Block and S-Te-Fan, Bruno Power, The Nasty Boyz, Frontliner, Noicecontrollers and a few by Zany and The Beholder.

All Scantraxx artists (I think). Like I said, it's totally the way to go for Hardstyle right now...Zany is a little off and on, but I've got a few of his tracks.

Also, that's a favorite of mine, but I think my favorite has got to be 'In Sound', or 'How Else Can I Say It'

I don't even know what this "Scantraxx" is about, I've just kept digging for songs based on a very extensive list and checking out on youtube and then grabbing a good quality source. I agree about Zany being a little off and on as some tracks can be very bad but some pretty good. I also like how it feels the hardstyle song generation of what this "Scantraxx" artists as you refer to has just about started and there is only more and more good songs being released, it's certainly not a "dying" genre or end of an era of for example how Techno music was strong in the early 90's and then died out somewhere around 97 or 98 in favor for trance taking over. However it feels like the "old" hardstyle and this newer generation are shifting place now like happened with techno and trance for example (ofc techno still exists but in faaar faaar smaller quantity than early 90's in europe just to mention an example and I grew up with this music and have been into trance later on and now hardstyle :p).

Also it's certainly no problem finding hardstyle in 320 kbps mp3 quality.

Scantraxx is a label, I believe it is owned by Showtek

Bioweapon is the epitome of everything I dislike about commercial hardstyle. The bass is so soft it feels like a wet fish rather than a kick drum and the melodies are so damn cheesy they would more fitting in a britney song, not a "hardstyle" track.
The only mainstream decent producers left are Alpha Twins, Pavo & Zany (in his collabs with Beholder and Donkey Rollers (Zany is 1/3 of donkey rollers)). D-block & S-Te-Fan did some killer sets before they became crap, and Noisecontrollers had some very good tracks as well back before he could beatmatch. Of their newer stuff, Yellow Minute is the only one that holds me.

Favourite track? Zany - Widowmaker and Donkey Rollers - Chopper, both from 05. Hardstyle died in 07/08 to me. I don't mind some of the really old stuff (pre 04) but I prefer the 04-08 period.

Widowmaker is my favorite Zany track as well, and I absolutely love Donkey Rollers. I still don't have a problem with cheese though, so I enjoy a lot of what Scantraxx has been spitting out, even if I feel guilty about it.

I'm the complete opposite I started liking hardstyle that's been produced since 07/08. :p Since I'm also techno/trance fan it's easier to like this newer kind of hardstyle. Especially in 2009 and 2010 there's been many good type of hardstyle songs that fall into my liking.

Do you guys like any stuff out on Fusion Records? Toneshifterz? Dozer? Noisecontrollers? I absolutely love some of the new stuff being released. The two newest tracks released by Toneshifterz ft. Bioweapon are absolutely awesome. Their kick has some serious crunch to it

Noisecontrollers - Marlboro Man for example is quite a good one for me. I don't like those two songs in the latest Toneshifterz ft. Bioweapon record though as it lacks the kind of tune in it which I enjoy. For me the tune is even more important than the bass as I couldn't be bothered listening to a "club" song for 5 mins but with the hardstyle kick (which is obviously a lot more exciting to listen to than a weak/boring club music bassnote). Examples of what kind of tunes I'm looking for can be found in songs like these for example, very "trance-like" tunes:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TGp7W_HUK4 (starts at 2:00)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDGgl-OX9uw (starts 2:30 but I really like the intro starting from 2:00)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6_oCrJz7vk (this one's cut so it starts immediatly at the good stuff)

I've heard quite a few good 2011 recordings so far though and couple of newcomers too which is nice to see (Butterfly Effectz to mention one example which I really like all songs of him so far), 2011 is shaping to be a very "productive" year for hardstyle and I thought 2009 - 2010 would possibly become the 2 golden years for hardstyle but doesn't look that will remain true.

Here's also some tracks I really enjoy that's been released in 2011

I've only heard one bioweapon track I didn't dislike. Can't remember the name of it now. Bioweapon seem to be the pioneers of the newest wave of watered down hardstyle. Noisecontrollers used to be decent producing some pretty hard tracks but then they sort of changed and went mediocre, I liked yellow minute though.

Without going into old hardstyle, a few of the ones I don't mind.
