The Fiio X3 Thread.

90% of X3's users reported the battery life is about 12 hours. not sure what happened to you but it must have something wrong if it can only play 5 hours

I just did a continous run and I managed to get 10 hours straight with the following settings
Sleep: Off
Volume: 18
Format: FLAC
Screen: Off (was on for few mins to check status)
Gain: High

Does setting high gain affect battery life a lot?
I notice continuous playing gives longer life.
Usually I use the X3 for around 1+ hour each day before shutting down and continuing the next day. It feels the battery life is a lot shorter if used that way?

the battery life depend on the impedance of the headphone and the volume. and if you can't turn off the X3 when the music is stop, X3 will still consume quite a lots of power. the battery life of X3 is 20- 25 hours even X3 is power on but without playing any music

My earphones impedance is 15 and volume at 18 should use less battery power?
Does high gain use more power too?
I always turn off the X3 when not using. Is there any chance for the X3 to be still running even after i turn off?

If you guys couldn't wait you should have just got it off eBay or from individual sellers. That's what I did, and I got mine just a week after it was released in China more than a month ago..
Cant really remember the specifics even though i just browsed through it yesterday lol, but it uses the same wolfson chip as the X3. Format support is the same, and it uses IPS 2.4 touch screen i think.
The size ratio given makes it looks bulkier and bigger than the X3.

Thanks! So essentially it is a X3 + IPS screen.

DX 50 doesn't look that interesting anymore.

not, the battery life depended on the output volume, you can get the same output power at high or low gain if set the volume . and there are not way to running the battery when it is turned off

James,

I have been wondering, would you do similar announcements (like you do for shipment of X3) for X5 when the time comes? I mean for example, audio garden in France is a perfect place for me to buy X5. I would like to learn -when the time comes- the shipping date when you release X5.

Is there any other way to increase the battery life?
My volume is at 18 with impedance earphone 15-16.
Screen is off and files are all flacs. Battery last for 10 hours.
Since the benchmark test is volume 30 for all formats at 10 hours, I could be getting maybe 12 hours+ with volume at 18?

the new firmware will increase the battery life when play mp3 and wav. but only when the firmware is very stable.

Hi just got mine delivered today
beerchug.gif
and in the unit there are pdf software and manual, in my case in chinese since it was ordered from China. I presume other markets will have corresponding manuals in the appropriate language.

Now I am going to test it out for the next few days!

You ordered from BH and received them already? Wow! thats fast. I placed my order and it still says On Order something......I wussed out and cancelled Mp4Nation order thinking if the player is defective I do not want to deal with the hassle of sending it back to Hong Kong.
