The upcoming Fiio KA17 dongle has a crazy 650 mW ouput on its desktop mode.

HAHA, do you remember the taste of your favorite chocolate or vanilla ice cream? When that is not right you know it. But the big thing is the Kiwi ears Forteza stage is noticeably bigger (NOW) with a smooth style of bass texture, though I still think I like the Zero 2 better. Where while the stage is not near as inviting with the Zero 2..............Hybrid Forteza v single Zero 2 DD.......there is still a forwardness to a small area of the upper midrange....which is somehow a little thin or something.....I can't describe it, but it was there also on my first impressions 12 or so days ago. Where in reality the Zero 2 has the better tune, more even tune, the Zero 2 is simply lacking in some of the Forteza’s technicality. And in this situation, I'll take the simpler tune over a bigger and more flamboyant stage.
I was stumbling around earbuds thread and saw a post from you in ff3 fiio where you refer it as "spacious".
Am thinking of getting a earbud for a lark (if the soundscape holds up). Saw one yincrow 1000; v neatly priced. Also ff3 and ff5. All around same ballpark in terms of cost.
One review (not here but on the online store) of yincrow 1000 raves abt soundstage, which does excite me.

Whoa crazy! Looks good, also parametric EQ.
Fwiw, the hibyfc6 is able to drive my senns hd660S2 pretty neatly and it's 100mw and 1.8Vrms. (vol has to be increased to 23-26 out of total 31units)
This one will blow it to bits!

I have the predecessor Fiio KA13, which is cheaper and has 550 mW output on its desktop mode.
It can easily drive my 3 hardest transducers, with headroom to spare:
1) Final Audio E5000 (low sensitivity at 93dB/mW)
2) Sennheiser HD650 (high impedance at 300ohm)
3) Yinman 600 ohm (600 ohm impedance and 87db/mW sensitivity)
The 650 mW on this new Fiio KA17 is going to be even more interesting! I do hope that battery drainage on the smartphone isn't that big though.
nice specs for the KA17, I have the KA13 so far I like is bright/neutral dac I paired w/my Xenns Mangrid Top, ISN Audio H50, Hidizs MP145 and other several IEMS in my staple, eyeing on Fiio Q15 hoping to attain it by the end of the year

Hiby R2 has 70mW, and this TempoTec gives a bit of boost, but not as I would expect from 280mW.
I bought one for the power, but the power stayed in China, it seems
It's not a complete waste, but almost...if you bought one for boost power. The sound is OK, though.
It's gonna serve the purpose. It's small and lightweight and will easily fit in the pocket connected to Hiby R2.
Cheers!
EDIT:
This is for new readers and those who have already seen my previous comment.
My opinion has changed regarding volume/power. I obviously had to wait a bit for DAP/sound to open up or something else to happen.
But now the power is more as it should be. It's noticeably better than 70mW that Hiby R2 has, even on 3.5 mm.
I would give only two cons. Not particularly bad, but it would be better if it's aluminium instead of plastic.
Also, it would be much better if the volume level had more steps.
Perhaps if I were really looking more and searching for more options, I would choose ibasso DC03PRO (on discount 65€) or FiiO KA13 (83€).

Were you using the 4.4mm balanced connection for your testing? That is the only output that TempoTec claims is 280mW, and unfortunately I don't see the mW output of the 3.5mm connection listed anywhere.

RU7 is a 1bit DAC, so it is a bit less technical than the usual delta sigma DACs. The RU7 is thicker in note weight, warmish/analoguish sounding, perhaps not as micro-detailed but soundstage and imaging is still very good. The Fiio KA13 is neutral bright, more analytical sounding but can be sterile when compared to the lush RU7.
