Yeah I've read a few reviews, and all of them agree with having a warm sound, bordering on dark. I love a warm signature. But I'm not a bass head(mostly jazz music here), so that may turn me off. I'm wondering if the Hexa's, although not a planar, would be a better overall buy for my next purchase.
I can confirm the Hexas are great for Jazz if we’re talking my preferences, they are absolutely crystal clear and very clean sounding bordering on sterile but that’s what I enjoy about them so much. Fantastic layering and definition for their price range. They do have a touch of warmth to help with adding body to the standup bass and sax, but not a ton. They also fit me fan-freaking-tastically And provide probably the best sound isolation out of all the sets I own.

I think the TinHiFi P1 Max are great, especially for the 11.11 sale price they sold at.
I second the Pandas - fantastic pair of IEMs.

Strangely the Big Panda really changed (for me) after about four days of continuous burn-in. It was the bass that was affected most for me?

Hey everyone,

After receiving the pr3 and listening to it for a few days now, I'm really enjoying it. They're my first planar and I really really like them. But they have me wondering about some of the upper tierd planar iem's. Anything in the $100 range you would recommend? I know about the s12 pro, but it's a bit out off my price budget.

I'm not going to get anything now. I'll be enjoying the pr3 for a long while I think(my first kz iem, hopefully they hold up). But I like to plan for my next eventual buy.

Thanks for reading and any help

Edit: Duh. I just had to look up. Those kiwi ears melody look to be what I'm looking for

If the S12 Pro is out of your budget, you should look at the ARTII T10. There is a 20% off coupon on Amazon right now for it which brings it to $55 USD before taxes (assuming you live in the US). They sound very very similar, I'm super impressed with it. The bass should be a lot more satisfying compared to the PR3, which I like for the $29 I paid for it but it definitely needs a boost.

I purchased the Salnotes Zero 2 for my son, so I'm sure i'll get to test them out, and see if I should pick them up for myself? I own the first Salnotes Zero.

Hmm, no DD for the bass, hope the BA bass is vented though.

I want that cassette player if it's got excellent sound? I have an old Panasonic that does the job, but it doesn't jive well with a lot of my current earphones.

I'm actually really looking forward to test the SeeAudio Hakuya.
The driver setup is the same as Anole V14 and Penon Impact. Curious to see how they compare!

I find the Kaguya, their 4BA + 4EST offering, perfect for female vocals and shoegaze/fuzzy indie rock. It has a U-shaped tuning with a sense of transparency and space (separation) while being intimately staged. Pace, rhythm, and dynamics is also great. In shoegaze tracks, you can feel the guitars swirling around you.

The timbre and resolution of the EW200 is *chef's kiss*. It's doing a number on me with my response to other sets in my collection. That's never a good thing when this level of crystalline timbre and reso is coming from a set I paid $20.00 for. Combine that with the sensational stage and imaging, and damn. If it had just a touch more punch in the bass and heft/reso in the mid bass, it would be a true game shifter.
Stop praising the EW200 so highly. I really don't want to buy it and end up questioning all my other multi-hundred-buck purchases 😆

I've got a few sub 60€ sets which still have their obvious downfalls:

Wan'er - fantastic tuning but detail and technicalities are subpar

EPZ Q5 - very prominent high mids which make it very genre-specific

CVJ Mei - cannot get along with any of the switch settings, it's either laid back and lo-fi or seriously sibilant, so again genre-specific

Personally, I hear a pretty big improvement in sound quality going from EW200 and some other cheap sets to my EA1000. Going from my EA1000 to my Monarch MKII, the bass on the EA1000 feels a little higher quality while the overall clarity is a bit better on the Monarchs. Tuning on both is good enough that I don't feel the need to EQ either. Probably going to try getting the MKIII at some point to see if I like that more.
