That cable was developed for the upcoming hybrid as people was asking for a more upscale offering.

I am going to be watching very closely at the release of this cable. It looks absolute stunning and I am an absolute sucker for thick cables.

IEM following this one has consistently been banger in terms of tonality and tonal balance.

MEST III is a coloured sound that somehow works. Quite fun, but not fun enough to convince me to go through the trouble of saving up a few grands again

Just wanna confirm if it's metallic red and shiny or matte finish like hiby r2 ii.

Yes, it's Red, shiny-matte. The finish is matte, but the paint is metallic.

My understanding is that they sound great with some IEMs and not so much with others.
I was wondering if folks had a list of some preferred pairings and/or ones to avoid. Thanks in advance!

Coincidentally I had the HiBy R3 II > Shanling UA3 > Penon ASOS Cable > Penon 10th > my ears....when I saw your post! Congratulations!

Though after going back and forth numinous times, really the chips inside the R3 II are surprisingly more clear. It was hard to leave the UA3, but clarity overrides romance.

The XSL X-One (V2) came to me yesterday, the first of my purchases from 11.11. I thought, I might play with modifying them, but I like how they sounds. I feel bad about modifying them, so I won't.
The Sound: The bass hits hard and has good texture, the vocals are close, and the treble is smooth, but without excessive withdrawal.
Technically those are not far from KZ and CCA (for example D-Fi , Polaris, or Castor Harman), but tonally they are more pleasant. In the same way, I think those are better than the Blon Z300, which also had a flattened pina gain, but were too mid-bassy and dark.

They also fit my ears very well and have an interesting design. Iemy definitely worth the price.

I find Hiby R3 II is neutral and kind of unexciting. Tell me more about UA3. What it's adding to it?
