The discovery thread!

My partner once made a similar comment when she saw all of my headphones out on my desk at the same time. My response: “And how many different black shirts, black pants, and black dresses do you own? Would you also say those are ‘all the same’?” She conceded the point, and now never questions when a new pair appears.

Either that, or she’s carefully and patiently crafting an even better comeback…
Oh she's cooking something up alright! Just you wait, she will get into a more expensive hobby or collection and throw this back at you 😅

Anyone have experience with these Yongse cables? They have swappable 2 pin and mmcx connectors like the Con-X.

“burning”? Who are you and what have you done to the real Phonophi?
Haha exactly. The "mellowed" phonophi continues to surprise. Think he has handed the slayer baton to @FreeWheelinAudioLuv2 who is slashing, carving, scything his way out of a smoky burning TOTL hell (or heaven depending on the pov)

ifi hip dac 3 in the house. Added HiBy R3 II as a source with USB Type C, Penon GS849 in 4.4mm and TANGZU X HBB XuanNv with the Tang Sancai wide-bores! Note though because the hip DACs has two TypeC ports, in the photo the plug is plugged into the charger port. The great part is you can plug USB TypeC charging into the signal port with-out damage! Either-or.

Lots of drivers and not a single positive feedback from those who tried it at the shows. I hope they retuned and fixed whatever was wonky.
Is it just me or the idea of listening to softears’ IEMs is better than actually listening to softears’ IEMs? They do have some good IEMs, but I can’t recall any absolute knockout from them

I was able to procure a Sound Rhyme SR5 for a good price (thanks ToneDeafMonk) so I'll be able to compare between the SR5, EPZ K5, TRN ST7, CKLVX D41, and CCA Hydro. I know some of them are kinda old now and not "discoveries" perse, but, battle of the budget hybrids?

I've always wanted to own a Softears Twilight because the FR is something I'd probably really enjoy but at $930, it's a no from me.

Maybe I'll try classifieds one day, I've seen them go for around $550 on average.

I remember @baskingshark had liked it.. Can't find his review though.

Liked this review of it

Ah yes here's a short review of the ZiiGaat Doscinco: https://www.head-fi.org/showcase/ziigaat-doscinco.27060/reviews#review-33931

One for bassheads!

Doscinco 10.jpg

Pros:
Solid build
Ergonomic fit
Easy to drive
Good isolation
Less commonly found L-shaped basshead tuning
Big tactile bass and deep visceral rumble
Safe treble for our treble-sensitive brethren
Decent technicalities for a basshead focused signature

Cons:
Dearth of accessories
Driver flex
Slight BA timbre
Not for trebleheads
Some element of mid-bass bleed
