I meant in Singapore. This is where I study. :p

In the Philippines it's worse. Yes there are lots of pickpockets in Metro Manila but in the place where I live (city south of Metro Manila) it isn't as bad, although leaving your phone is tantamount to it getting stolen lol. Also, those foreigner abduction cases only occur in the southern parts where the MILF (terrorist group) operate.

Ok. I was wondering..... Like is that possible to leave a phone out in the open like that lol. Plus you said everyone owned an iphone I was like, the hell? lol  Not hard to believe that in Singapore. My Aunty was just telling me some of her experiences she had while in Manila so when I read you comment I was reminded of that.

I just wish the environmentalists understood the Laws of Conservation. Maybe they would then be able to come up with better solutions.

A headphone question: I want to upgrade from my Sennheiser HD600's, and was wondering if my only choices are the HD650 or the HD700/800? I like the Sennheiser sound with my Lyr and Bifrost, and would want something similar to them.

The HE-500, honestly, is the best value right there, if you prefer a more neutral sound. They're fast, fluid, with very accurate tone. The HD800s are very good, but there's a harshness there that can make all but the best recordings seem pitchy and bright. The HD700s? No, absolutely no. They take the worst characteristics of the HD800s and amplify them.

So you don't think the HE-6 is worth getting over the HE500? What about the LCD2, 3 and TH900. Would be sweet to have them all :p. If I had deep pockets I think I'd opt for the LCD-3, HD800, TH900, and HE500.

Thanks for the insightful responses. I do agree that while it was a shocking realization at first, the fact that we are dynamic individuals is definitely a good thing.
I think the easiest way for me to explain what made it feel strange to me goes like this: When we see another person, we examine their behaviors and emotions and identify them. When we see them again, we recognize them by the way they act, and this implies some sort of constant to their personality. This is also a way for us to differentiate between people, including ourselves. When I see another person, I see how he is different from me and say, "That person is not me." But as I was thinking about this and had that realization that I am not the same person I was say, 5 years ago, I realized that "me" is a pretty loosely defined term. If I met myself from 5 years ago, that would be me. But it wouldn't be me at all. Strange to think about.
I totally agree, by the way, with the idea of challenging your own views. I used to be a very stubborn person, but nowadays I greatly value always letting myself hear the opposition. I've found that I've actually changed my views on some things just by being more open minded about issues, questions, and values that I hold.

This also means that we can't dislike or judge a person forever. People change, and our opinions about them should change as well. I have a hard time doing this to certain persons though, despite knowing better.

"Balloon" is a really strange word. Say it a few times. Balloon. Balloon. Balloooooooon.

Some people have balloon fetishes? I don't just mean inflation, which is a thing in and of itself, but like actual balloons.

Professor Brothers to the rescue:

There is balloon porn. I know this, because I saw a documentary about two women who were making such movies. They would pop balloons (nude) and grind themselves against said balloons. So, yes, there are people having such festishes.

I found it rather bizarre at first, but then I kind of thought it sounded pretty fun.

I don't like Audeze headphones. They're too dark and I find them uncomfortable. If cost is no object, the HE-6s are worth it, but you have to factor in the OMGWTFBBQ amp to go with them. What makes the HE-500 so attractive is, with more modest amplification, you get 90% of the sound for a much smaller investment. He has the Bifrost/Lyr thing going on, and the HE-500 does a kick-a** job with that setup, so might as well play to his strengths rather than start from scratch. There's no way I'd run the TH900s with the Lyr, that's just asking for trouble, since the Fostex are so sensitive.

Thanks for the suggestions for podcasts everyone, I'll have to check some of them out.

I do agree that the Marketplace guy has a great voice; I listen to marketplace as well but it's a little scattershot to me. It does give me a heads up on stuff that I otherwise wouldn't have heard though.

I have to say, that is one of the more indecipherable analogies I've ever come across lol.

It's sleek and futuristic looking.  It copies the form, but not the soul.  I've called the HD700 a cyborg John Grado before so I'm just extending the metaphor until it snaps.

Interesting.  Usually it seems that for most people kinks they *don't* happen to have are gross, awful, turn-offs, abominations, etc. unless they put some effort into being open minded or have just been desensitized to it.  This balloon thing strikes me as completely neutral for some reason.  I don't get it, but even on gut-instinct, bypass all conscious thought sort of level I have no reaction to it either way despite never being exposed to it before.

Also, while we're at it I think we need some definitions.  A fetish is something you can't get off without or at least have a very hard time getting off without.  A kink is just something you like, but can get by without.

A terrorist group composed entirely of MILFs?  I think I've just discovered a new kink.

I was going to mention that hours ago, but I didn't want to look like the immature one. Thanks for taking that bullet.

Actually, those two women said something along the lines of having hard to get off to anything unless balloons were involved. They said they enjoyed the sounds the balloons made and apparently the feeling they got when touching them. Now, I don't know if they just said that on cam because they happen to make that kind of porn or if they really meant it, however, it is kind of an interesting fetish - or kink.
