I've been looking for a good deal on these too. So far the lowest I've seen for a brand new is from ebay seller "zoes-stuff" @ $168 or best offer. Amazon warehouse offers a few used-good condition starting at $161.33 right now.

Has anyone dealt with this ebay seller?

I'm going to order them, most of the chances unless I'd get other suggestions. Ive read that v-moda is a fashion company and values fashion more than sound..
Not sure if it's true though.

Vminnovations are selling Senn 428's for 27.99 W/free ship on their ebay page.  Shipping is U.S only tho:

With the Sennheiser HD-428s, the bass mod makes them sound better than the famed HD-580 in my opinion. The weak spot though is the plastic headband that does not grip as good as I would like. But I am working on a mod/fix for that. The stated price is crazy good for these headphones. I think a modded pair might just make an owner of the HD-600 cry.

I've never owned the HD 600, but I'll say the 428's are sleepers for sure. I tossed mine on about 30 mins ago, Cued up Lynyrd Skynrd's Pronounced, And been smiling ever since..  Such a great can for not a lot of cash..  I might buy another, just because!!

I heard them at a BestBuy listening booth; honestly, they really took me by surprise. Great headphones for ~$30; would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for cheap bang-buck
