For any fence-sitters, the HDRADIO code no longer works. I was really considering this, but decided to think on it, wait till this morning. There is no "this morning," friends. 

I went back to the fatwallet thread where I first saw the deal and a person in that thread posted that it didn't work for him at one point but he came back later and it is working again.  I just checked and it worked for me also...

Yep, initial measurements seems to brand these as trash and since then some has been judging it by measurements than their ears.
Their sound signature probably isn't for everyone though..

To me they would be solid cans if it weren't for that ringing ~6kHz, I simply couldn't live with it. $400 is a great deal on them, though, especially if you don't mind using a little EQ.

Pretty high. There are examples of the HD700 selling for that and more.  Just make sure to do the right thing by not selling it for more than what you paid for as your question implies the price you paid.

I don't suppose you're gonna regulate what he does with his headphones now are you? If he doesn't like the headphones and is able to sell them off at a higher price, more power to him. I suggest that he put them up on eBay. There's a better chance of him finding a good price there.
